Alva and Alva Primary School In St Ann, Jamaica

Being an alumnus of the Alva Primary School in Jamaica West Indies, my interest has always been peaked about the continued progress of the school itself and the diversity of programs offered. Alva infant and primary schools, approximately 100 years old, have continued over the years to produce great students and with a discipline that aligns itself to a religious faith, the practice of morality and great code of ethics are always enforced and maintained throughout the years. It's also one of the feeder schools to renowned high schools like York Castle and St Hildas Diocean in Brown's Town St Ann, Dinthill in Linstead St Catherine and Holmwood in Manchester, just to name a few.

In order to see a continuation of the progress enjoyed over the almost century old school, providing quality education, there is no doubt that, although being a public school supported by Government, addition support are sometimes, more often than never, needed to maintain a quality that will continue to push our children to the next level. I also want to state that support are in different forms and the thought of monetary support should not be seen as the only. Support, giving back, finds virtue in any facet of life that gives light to opportunities, ease of application of ones abilities through introduction to success stories, or simply just talks and visits from so called role models.

Age and Wisdom

Haven't we all become accustomed to the statement that age influences wisdom through experience?  Though this may be true in many cases but shouldn't consideration be given to the many conditions that make this possible? One has to realize that, to effect experience through learning, the correct plarform has to be in place to accept and process in the fashion that speaks wisdom. Awareness should also be aroused, if wisdom is in place, that there are times when experience/time relationship can be flat, with time being the continuum. Politics and the truth

Have you ever questioned the possibility of an intersection of politics and truth?  Being a keen listener and a proponent of good conversations, I am frequently and voluntarily engaged in discussions and, across the entire spectrum, there is this obvious quest for opposing correctness whenever coincidence and support of individual convictions get demoted by obvious fact. One would want to argue, with passion, that the core of any conversation should be fact finding but seeing that it is seldomly that way, another question that pops up is, 'what causes the relaxation of the emergence of truth when not in favor of conviction'.
I, from time to time, grapple with the idea and the answer that keeps resurfacing lies with our competitive nature developed during our formative years. We are so trained, though unaware to trainer, that winning is the only way and even with experience and advanced level of reasoning, we are so reluctant in letting go that pride that exemplifies falsehood. This attitude continues to propagate and if a halt is not introduced, the entire world atmosphere will thrive on insecurities and lies, as passed down to our descendants.
